Boston’s Beacon Hill is an endearing hodgepodge of architectural styles and building typologies from the late 18th to mid 20th centuries. The Historic District is one of the nation’s finest and least-altered early urban environments of elegant townhouses and decorated tenements, narrow streets and brick sidewalks. A great deal has been written on the history of Beacon Hill and the architecture of the houses. A number of outstanding resources exist and more information will continue to be discovered. This website is designed to compile those findings. Like any genealogy, this database is not complete. It is a starting point to help those interested in a particular house know who the architect had been and how the structure has been preserved over time. Stay tuned for more.
